Environment
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT – ‘East Arm Resources has identified environmental management as being an integral component of business and as such it will be considered when undertaking any business activity.’
Key operational considerations to minimising impacts to the environment include –
Managing dust and noise emissions through the implementation and maintenance of avoidance and mitigation measures
- Industry standard dust emission control measures applied to equipment and plant
- Blast monitoring to demonstrate compliance with air blast overpressure and ground vibration permit limits
- Conducting activities at different times of the day to minimise noise impacts to the surrounding environment
- Monitoring compliance with dust emission sampling and noise monitoring
Protecting water quality of the watercourses that flow into East Arm, Tamar River
- Installation and maintenance of a quarry drainage network which integrates artificial wetlands, sediment ponds and basins, existing drains and dams, and sediment capture methods.
- Establishing vegetation buffers to Fourteen Mile Creek to protect water quality and quantity
- Managing hydrocarbon based products with industry standard bunding systems, containers and spill management procedures
- Monitoring water quality to ensure compliance with permit conditions
Minimising impacts to significant biodiversity values in the landscape
- Minimising the risk of impact to terrestrial mammals such as the Tasmanian devil and spotted-tailed quoll
- Monitoring the breeding success of white-bellied sea eagles that may use nearby nesting habitat.
Enhancing the road network
- Improvements to the Batman Highway slip lane for northbound traffic.
- Enhancements to East Arm Road to increase road efficiency and access for all road users.
